Navicat has an horrible user interface, it is slow (written in Java) and uses tremendous amounts of memory if you are working with result sets from a large database query.

I went back and looked up the problems I had with SQLyog, because I keep getting comment spam from SQLyog reputation management people – I wanted to set the record straight. It turns out, that I was having errors when copying databases over with SQLyog, and I couldn’t get it to work after fighting with it for quite a while.

Frustrated, I downloaded Navicat, and it worked the first time.

It’s been a while since I used SQLyog, so I don’t remember the details of why it didn’t work for me or why I didn’t like it. I think I was having trouble with it for some reason. Navicat is still working great though.

I was curious to know how does it compare with SQLyog.

I love SQLyog. It works great for me.
