Contest I: Identify this Historic Landmark Near New Orleans
8 04 2007
— This Contest Has Ended! Congratulations Jess, a visitor from MyBlogLog who won! —This contest will be easier for people from SE Louisiana, although contests in the future will be easier to answer for a wider range of audience.
Many people have asked what the picture at the top of this website is from, where it was taken, etc… I was actually fishing (hint) at the time. It’s the same picture I used on my older hartwell.tv blog.
The picture was taken somewhere in SE Louisiana at sunset.
- I want to know what historic structure is in the bottom left of the picture.

The lake is Lake Borgne. My guess is that the historic landmark is Fort Proctor, also known as Fort Beauregard or Beauregard’s Castle.
Here’s a link: http://www.fortbeauregardmarina.com/
(I only added the link because it had a nice history of Fort Beauregard on the front. I certainly don’t think it’s the Marina Estate in your picture!) Thanks!
Good Job!! The next one is going to be much harder though…I think you answered it a few hours after I put it up. :) Check back – it should be up in the next week or so. Your Amazon gift certificate is being emailed from Amazon.
Thanks Jess!
Thanks! :)
